More than 850 members of Bucknell’s graduating class moved their tassels left in
a light rain at the University’s 166th
Commencement May 22. The ceremony,
on the recently renamed Malesardi
Quadrangle, began according to
University tradition, with graduates
processing through the Christy
Mathewson Memorial Gateway.
Some carried umbrellas through
the gates; others danced in the rain.
Leslie Moonves ’ 71 (pictured right),
the chairman, president and CEO of
CBS Corp., delivered the Commencement address, encouraging graduates
to follow their passions and pursue
personal happiness. The University
then presented degrees to 867 graduates
(including 49 who completed their
studies in January). They represent 33
states and the District of Columbia,
as well as 22 nations. Moonves also
received an honorary doctor of humane
