DEVELOPMENT & ALUMNI RELATIONS
A rich, diverse college experience for all students is important
to M. Steven “Max” ’78 and Julie Ross Silbermann ’78, P’08, P’ 12,
longtime supporters of Jewish life at Bucknell.
To strengthen the University’s academic offerings in Jewish studies,
they recently established the Silbermann Family Professorship
in Modern Hebrew Language & Literature. The first recipient,
Professor Or Rogovin, has helped expand the curriculum beyond
introductory Hebrew to include Jewish literature and culture.
“Today’s world is so interdisciplinary,” says Julie. “The professorship
supports diversity as well as the depth and breadth of education
Max agrees. “This hit the sweet spot of our interests and the
University’s needs,” he says. “We wanted to support the WE DO
Campaign in a permanent way.”
The Silbermanns hope their gift will inspire other donors to invest
in Jewish academic and extracurricular life, broadening its appeal
and opportunities for all students.
One gift enriches Bucknell
for all. FOREVER.
